تبدا الرواية بسفر بطل الرواية (المهاجر) إلى لبنان لممارسة هوايته وهي جمع القصص الخاصة بحيات الشعوب عن طريق الروي الشعبي وتدور أحداث الرواية في عام 1982 بعد الانتهاء من الحرب الأهلية في لبنان وبالفعل وصل المهاجر إلى الأراضي اللبنانية وبدأ في التعرف على أهلها ويسجل القصص والروايات الشعبية ولم يكن يتوقع أن هذه الرحلة ستغير حياته تماما وتجعله يكتشف نفسه على حقيقتها.
