يوضح المؤلف في هذا الكتاب أنه بحر يحتاج إلى من يجيد السباحة ليستخرج كنوز هذا الإنسان الذي طبع كالجندي المجهول على الحياة بصمات أثرت بسلوك بعض الأمم وسرد بعض المدن المشهورة بحضرموت متفاخرا بها في قوله النزيل في مدينة سينون سيخرج مزودا بالعلوم والمعارف ومن يقرأ عن مدينة شبام سيقف عند أسر عديدة ذات شأن منها أسر آل باذيب فمنها نبغ رجال منهم حفظة القرآن ومنهم من قارع بريطانيا أيضا من يقرأ عن سعاد مدينة الشحر سيجد متعة وهو يتنقل بين حدائقها اليانعة وسيبكي وهو يسجل شهدائها الذين دافعوا عنها في شتى مراحل التاريخ ويقول الكاتب من شد الرحال وتنقل بين جزر الملايو والهند وأفريقيا سيجد آثار هذا الإنسان وما عليه إلا أن ينفض الغبار عنها ويبرزها للأجيال.
