يأتي تأليف هذا الكتاب في إطار مشروع متفكر الفكري والبحثي، الذي يروم محاولة النبش في المصادر والمراجع عن أعلام لم يلتفت إليهم، ولم يعرف بهم، رغم ما بذلوه من جهد كل في تخصصه ومجاله، وذلك من أجل تبرئة نفسه مما قاله العلامة محمد العربي الفاسي في ديباجة كتابه \"مرآة المحاسن\" : \"وسموا المغاربة بالإهمال، ودفنهم فضلائهم في قبري تراب وإخمال فكم فيهم من فاضل نبيه، طوى ذكره عدم التنبيه، فصار اسمه مهجورا، كأن لم يكن شيئا مذكورا\"، وكذا مما أشار إليه العلامة والمؤرخ عباس بن إبراهيم التعارجي قائلا: \"إني لأتعجب من أهل مراكش بالخصوص، فهذه الخصلة هي التي كانت سببا لدفن سابقهم ولاحقهم، وغمط رفيع قدر عالمهم وفاضلهم وشاعرهم وسائر أكابرهم، ولهذا أهملهم المصنفون في التاريخ\".
