يتناول الكتاب خاطرات جمال الدين الأفغاني، طبع لأول مرة عام (1349 هـ / 1931 م)، وهو يحتوي على الخاطرات التي ألقاها جمال الدين الأفغاني أثناء إقامته الأخيرة في الأستانة، في الفترة من (1310 هـ / 1892 م) إلى (1314 هـ / 1897 م)، أي حتى وفاته، ترجع أهميته إلى أنه ضم آخر ما صرح به الأفغاني من آراء قبيل وفاته، هذه الخاطرات (محمد باشا المخزومي) كان موضع أسرار الأفغاني، فهو صديقه وتلميذه وملازمه وصادقة وقد كشف له الأفغاني عن نواياه، وأوضح له آراءه بحرية وصراحة.
