يتناول هذا الكتاب بالدراسة لفن \"السيرة الذاتية\" كتابة النص الأدبي وما يثيره من أسئلة ولما كان هذا الفن ينفر من التجنيس فيستعير من الرواية بعض تقنياتها (التصوير والتجسيد للأحداث واستبطان الذات) ويستعير من الدراما (الحوار والصراع الدرامي) ويتفق مع القصة التاريخية في عرضه لحياة صاحبها الواقعية وهذا الفن يأتي في صور متعددة ويهدف صاحبها من وراء كتابة سيرته إثبات الذات وتمجيد تاريخ نضاله في الحياة أو تنفيسا عن ثورة عارمة انتابته أو حالة نفسية طارئة أو مبدأ من المبادئ وقضية من القضايا التي تنبع من ظروف وحياة صاحب السيرة الخاصة به.
