استخدامات المراهقين لأخبار الحوادث في الصحف المتخصصة والإشباعات التي تحققها لهم ترتبط قراءة الصحف باعتبارها سلوكا اتصاليا بمدى ما تحققه هذه القراءة من دوافع أو حاجات يستهدفها الفرد فيتوفر للفرد الرضا عن القراءة والإشباع منها إذا ما جاءت الصحف ومحتواها ومفرداتها ملبية لهذه الدوافـع والحاجات، وإذا لم ترض بشكل أو بأخر دافـعا لـديه أو حاجة من حاجاته فإنه يتجنبها ومع اختلاف الدوافع والحاجات التى يستهدفها الفرد من بين الأفراد فإننا نتوقع اختلافا فى عادات القراءة ومظاهر استخدام الصحف ومحتواها ومفرداتها وهذا يقودنا إلى أن هناك مضامين معينة يسعى وراءها المراهق وتحقق له قدرا كبير من الإشباع فى الوقت الذى يعزف فيه عن قراءة مضامين أخرى وهذا بالطبع يختلف طبقا لحاجات المراهق من وقت لآخر.
