جاءت فكرة هذا الكتاب أن تتولى هذا الموضوع ببعض الاهتمام، الذي يعرف القارئ على النباتات في بيئاتها وتوزيعها. ويتعرض الباب الأول للعوامل التي تؤثر على توزيع النباتات، وهي العوامل المناخية والتربية، والعوامل البيئية وبناء التربة وأنواعها وعلاقة ذلك بالكساء الخضري الذي ينمو عليها، بالإضافة إلى توزيع التربة حسب رطوبتها في العالم. ويتعرض الباب الثاني للأقاليم الحياتية الأرضية، فتناول المؤلف بالشرح كل الأقاليم الأساسية في العالم، ويتعرض الباب الثالث لتوزيع بعض الوحدات التصنيفية والإشارة إلى بعض الفصائل الكونية والمتوطنة بالإضافة إلى الفصائل الإستوائية وفصائل نصف الكرة الجنوبي والممالك الفلورية، ويتعرض الباب الرابع لجغرافية المملكة العربية السعودية النباتية.
