ألف أرسطو كتابه \" دستور الاثينيين \" مما شك الكثيرون في نسبته إلى أرسطو. أما اليوم، بعد ما يقارب مئة سنة على اكتشافه، فقد ثبت أن أرسطو هو مؤلفه دون ريب. وقد قسم أرسطو \"الدستور \" إلى بابين : الباب الأول، وقد وقفه على تطور النظام السياسي الأثيني إلى القرن الرابع قبل الميلاد، والباب الثاني، وقد شرح فيه التنظيم السياسي والإدراي في أثينا، في زمنه هو شرحا دقيقا وافيا فعول في ذلك على من سبقوه من المؤرخين كما أنه عول على تنقيباته في بعض الوثائق والمستندات.
