جاء هذا الكتاب ليعرض السيرة الذاتية لهذا البطل الهمام هارون الرشيد. واشتمل الكتاب بين دفتيه على مقدمة وخمسة فصول: تناول الفصل الأول : دراسة في المصادر، بينما الفصل الثاني : تحدث عن المصادر وشخصية هارون الرشيدي، وجاء الفصل الثالث : ليشرح نظرة المصادر إلى هارون الرشيد، في حين جاء الفصل الرابع ليعرض : المصادر وشخصية ولاة عهد هارون الرشيدي وبيعتهم، وجاء الفصل الخامس : ليوضح نظرة المصادر إلى البرامكة. ثم تناول نتائج الدراسة. وفي النهاية أشار إلى المراجع والمصادر.
