من أوراق السادات لا أعرف كم جلست معه لكى يحكي هذه المذكرات، في إحدى المرات استغرقت الجلسة 18 ساعة فالرئيس السادات عندما يشرع في قضية مهمة لا يلتفت إلى شئ آخر.. وكنت أعيد صياغة ما أملاه الرئيس وأتحقق من التواريخ. ولم يلجأ الرئيس السادات إلى ورقة أو كتاب ينقل منه ذكرياته أو خواطره أو يراجع ما فيها من تواريخ وإنما قد ذاكرها وفكر فيها كثير وأعاد التفكير حتى إذا استقرت في ذهنه وأتيحت له فرصة أن يرويها لم يجد صعوبة في ذلك. فأوراق السادات لم تكن تسجيلا لحياته وعرضا تاريخيا لها وإنما دعوة للأجيال القادمة لأن تقلب وتقرأ صفحات من تاريخ مصر والعالم من حولنا. دقيقا لأحداث ثورة يوليو سنة بسنة وكشفا لأسرار ثورة مايو وتوثيقا تاريخيا لمعركة أكتوبر فنجد في \"أوراقه\" رصدا باليوم والساعة والدقيقة.
