إن هذا الكتاب ليس كتابا علميا توثيقيا للتنمية في المملكة العربية السعودية ولا يتطرق إلى التنمية بمفاهيمها ومجالاتها وأنواعها وأشكالها ونماذجها ومنهجيتها العلمية، إنما هو مجموعة مواضيع تشمل أفكارا ورؤى تنموية متناثرة طرحها المؤلف في أوقات مختلفة وبمناسبات متعددة بعضها نشر في أوعية إعلامية مختلفة، بعضها أصبح واقعا ملموسا والبعض الآخر قد يأتي الوقت المناسب لتبنيها، وفيه رصد لجزء من حركة تنموية شاملة واستثنائية في جوانب التنمية البشرية والبنية التحتية والأساسية للدولة عايش مراحلها وتفاصيلها المؤلف منذ بدايتها من خلال مشاركته في تأسيس إحدى الجامعات الحكومية وعضويته في مجلس الشورى ومجالس ولجان وجمعيات وأعمال عديدة أخرى (2005-2018م)، وهي حقبة قصيرة ثرية من الحراك التنموي المستمر الذي تجاوز ثماني عقود.
