جاء هذا الكتاب لتسليط الضوء على التحديات التي واجهت الصحافة المغربية في نشأتها وخاصة الصحافة المحلية بتطوان لذا يصبح من الأهمية بمكان في المرحلة الراهنة على الأقل توجيه أدوات البحث والتحليل لهذه المرحلة الاستعمارية لتوثيق نشأة الصحافة المحلية بتطوان وتشخيص وضعها وتحديد أهدافها وتحدياتها وعلى هذا المستوى يتقاطع هذا البحث مع هدف أخر لا يقل أهمية والمتمثل في حفظ وتوثيق ما صدر من الإنتاج الصحفي المحلي قبل أن يشمله التلف والنسيان علما أن الصحافة في المغرب وباقي بلدان المغرب العربي تشكل مصدرا أساسيا ومستمرا للتاريخ وان قيمتها التوثيقية لا تعوض.
