الموقع والتاريخ هو من أهم الدراسات التي تناقش مستقبل سيناء بصفتها الدرع الواقية لمصر شرقا والامتداد الطبيعي لمستقبلها المشرق ويبدأ الكتاب بالفصل الأول الذي يحدثنا عن السكان، وعرب سيناء، وأهم التغيرات التي طرأت على التوزيع القبائلي منذ الفتح الإسلامي، ويحدثنا عن قبائل سيناء المعاصرة، وعاداتهم وتقاليدهم، والفصل الثاني يناقش طبوغرافية سيناء، والفصل الثالث يحدثنا عن جغرافية شبه جزيرة سيناء، وطرقها وأوديتها المياه فيها ومناخها والفصل الرابع عن دير سانت كاترين، والفصل الخامس عن تاريخ سيناء بداية من العصر الفرعوني مرورا بخروج بني إسرائيل، ووضع سيناء في العصر البطلمي والروماني والإسلامي، ووصولا إلى عهد محمد علي وحملة الأتراك الأولى والثانية، ويختتم الكتاب بعرض الجولات المصرية الإسرائيلية.
