الكتاب يعد أول مؤلف نثري مغربي في قراءة الإمام نافع، وهو كتاب له أثر ظاهر في مصنفات الخالفين من بعده، وهو كتاب قرب فيه ابن القصاب قراءة الإمام نافع من روايتي : ورش وقالون، وفق منهج فريد قائم على تقسيم محكم، خال من التعقيد والتكلف، وقد اعتنى فيه مؤلفه بالتوجيه والتعليل، مع حفاوة باللغة العربية، وعناية بالمفهوم والمصطلح، وانتقى فيه زبدة ما في أمهات مصادر فني الرواية والتعليل، وقد اجتهد محقق الكتاب في تحقيق متن هذا العلق الفريد، وتوثيق نصوصه وشواهده، وكشف مستور مباحثه، وإرجاع الأقوال الواردة فيه إلى مظانها ومصادرها، معتمدا على نسخة خطية يتيمة، وقدم بين يدي الكتاب بمقدمتين تناول فيهما التعريف بسيرة الإمام أبي عبدالله ابن القصاب، وبكتابه تقريب المنافع.
