يعالج كتاب (الحركة القومية العربية / بين التراجع والنهوض) لمؤلفه د. محمد صالح الهرماسي، المشروع النهضوي العربي، من خلال ثلاثة محاور رئيسة هي : النشأة والأهداف، أسباب التراجع، مقومات النهوض. ويقف الكتاب عند الجذور التاريخية، وظهور بوادر الوعي المشترك، والتوثب عند العرب، في الفترة السابقة على ظهور الإسلام، وتمثل ذلك الوعي مبدئيا، في الاتجاه إلى تكوين لغة موحدة (بدل اللهجات المتعددة) التي شكلت أول الأسس المشتركة لتوطيد أركان القومية العربية، تلاه وعي بالوحدة الجغرافية التي تشكل بيئة واحدة، ثم أعقبه تماثل في العادات والتقاليد والتصورات، تلاه وعي إنشاء كيان سياسي.
