يؤرخ كتاب «حروب الجمهورية القرطاجية..من التأسيس حتى السقوط -146 ق.م-»، لمؤلفه عبد الله يوسف السليمان، لشخصية هانيبال وحروب قرطاجة ومشروعه لاحتلال روما بحملة برية طويلة عبر جبال الألب، وهي التي أخذت المؤرخين بسحر أحداثها.. فبدأ برواية التأسيس الواردة في الأدب اليوناني واللاتيني، وارتبطت بأميرة من صور تدعى «إليسا» التي هربت من صور بعد مقتل زوجها، فعندما مات والدها ورثت إليسا العرش مع أخيها ثم تزوجت الكاهن الأكبر، إلا أنّ أخيها قتل زوجها ... إلخ.
