جاء في الكتاب الذي أعده وفيق يوسف عن حوارات كان قد أجراها مع السعدي أن السعدي كان يراهن على الدوام على الفن النظيف الذي يتحدى الزمن ويبقى في ذاكرة الناس طويلا وها هو يوضح نظرته ومفهومه للفن بالقول : \"مهما تقدمت التكنولوجيا ومهما صنعت من آلات فهناك دوما أعمال تدخل من الأذن اليمين لتخرج من الشمال، في حين أن هناك أعمالا معينة لا يمكنك أن تنساها ومهما حاولت تبقى ملتصقة بذاكرتك لأنها أعمال إنسانية وهي التي تحتفظ بالأصالة والعراقة معا. ويثني الكاتب يوسف على هذا الكلام، ويرى أن السعدي كان محقا في رهانه الكبير مثلما كان محقا في رأيه بأن المعاناة ضرورية للفنان فقط.
