تميزت الحياة الاجتماعية بمدينة دمشق خلال العقدين الثالث والرابع من القرن العشرين بسمات وعلاقات وأفكار وممارسات انطبعت بها حياة الناس. وقد تمثل ذلك في سلوكهم من تواد وتراجم وتعاضد. وهذا الكتاب يرصد الحياة الاجتماعية خلال هذين العقدين من القرن العشرين في إطار من السلوك المطبوع بالعادات والتقاليد. كما يقدم صورة معاشة لأصدق ما كان عليه الناس من تواضع وسلوك وممارسة في إطار الأسرة وتحاب أبنائها وتعايشهم على السراء والضراء وبخاصة ما كان في موضوع الخطبة والزواج.
