كتاب (الدارس في تاريخ المدارس) والذي قام بتأليفه (عبد القادر بن محمد النعيمي الدمشقي) في حوالي (295) صفحة، يتحدث عن العصر الذهبي الذي مر على مدينة دمشق، فكساها حلة العلم والأدب، وترجع أهمية هذا الكتاب إلى أنه يمثل تأريخيا عمرانيا لمدينة دمشق، وجمع فيه المؤلف تاريخ دور القرآن، والحديث، والمدارس، والخوانق والتكايا، والربط والزوايا، والترب، والجوامع المعروفة في دمشق منذ القرن الخامس حتى العاشر للهجرة، وذكر فيه تراجم أصحابها وسير من درس فيها، فهو خير كتاب يبسط لنا النهضة العلمية في دمشق خلال خمسة قرون، ويصف لنا تسابق أبنائها على إنشاء دور العلم والمهاهد الدينية والمؤسسات الخيرية.
