يتناول هذا الكتاب مذكرات السياسي السوداني \"عبد الماجد أبو حسبو\"، في اثني عشر فصلا متبوعة بالملاحق، طاف خلالها الأستاذ بتاريخ السودان بالثورة المهدية (1881م -1898م)، ثم الحكم الثنائي، والحركة الوطنية الحديثة، وحركة الخريجين، وتناول نشأة الأحزاب السودانية، كما تناول قضايا مختلفة من بينها السياسة المصرية في السودان، والحكم الذاتي، والاستقلال، وثورة أكتوبر 1964م، ومشكلة جنوب السودان، والقضية العربية المركزية، ثم عرض تجاربه في الحكم وفي الحزب، وتحدث عن الحزبية والتربية الحزبية في السودان.
