الكتاب هو أطروحة ماجستير للكاتبة شيخة عبد الله الخاطري والتي دخلت إلى القصة الإماراتية من خلال الموروث، والذي يشكل مساحة واسعة في الذاكره الجمعية، والتي اهتمت بعوالم سحرية ألهبت مخيال تلك الذاكرة، كالخرافة والعوامل المتأسسة على موضوعة الجن، إضافة للأغاني والأهازيج التي تحفل بها الاحتفائية الشعبية حين الوداع أو الفرح أو الحزن، وإلى آخر هذه المنظومة التي كان يرتكن عليها الخيال الشعبي. ولقد رصدت الدراسة هذه الموروثات في القصة الإماراتية والتي تعتبر مرآة عاكسة لبعض الجوانب الواقعية في الحياة المعيشة، وأثبتت الدراسة أن القصة الإماراتية استطاعت أن توظف الموروث الذي يشكل بعض جوانب من الثقافة الشعبية.
