يكشف كتاب السيرة الذاتية الشعرية للأديب الراحل حمد خليفة بو شهاب، والذي أصدرته أخيرا، أكاديمية الشعر في أبوظبي، عن مراحل حياته، منذ الطفولة وإلى أيامه الأخيرة، إلى جانب محطات إبداعه وآرائه وخبرته، وما مر عليه من أحداث عبر عنها شعرا، إذ عايشها من خلال تنقلاته وأسفاره والمواقف التي تعرض لها، إذ إنه استلهمها وعكسها في نتاجاته الإبداعية بصيغ مؤثرة. كما اعتنى الكتاب في تبيان موقف الشاعر الراحل من السرد، وذلك عبر قصيدة نبطية أو فصيحة له. يتوسع الكتاب في التأكيد على صفة أساسية خبرها الجميع في الشاعر الراحل، وهي صدقه الشديد، حيث دافع مرارا عن هذه الخصلة التي حفظها ورعاها في قلبه وجسدها في مواقفه، لذا، لم يكن غريبا على المرحوم بو شهاب أنه حين كتب مذكراته في أواخر حياته، ذكر أنه كتبها دون تلفيق أو ادعاء بغير حق.
