اتفاقيات جنيف الأربع المؤرخة في 12 أغسطس / آب 1949 هي معاهدات دولية انضمت إليها وصادقت عليها كل الدول تقريبا. تكفل الاتفاقيات الحماية للجرحى والمرضى من القوات المسلحة في الميدان، والجرحى والمرضى والغرقى من أعضاء القوات المسلحة في البحار، وأسرى الحرب، والمدنيين الذين يجدون أنفسهم تحت ظل حكم أجنبي في حالة نزاع دولي. يتضمن الكتاب أيضا نصوص الاتفاقيات بعد أن نقحت وكملت بنصوص أخرى في المؤتمر الدبلوماسي المنعقد في جنيف من 22 أبريل / نيسان إلى 12 أغسطس / آب 1949. وفي الوقت الحالي توزع اللجنة الدولية نصوص الاتفاقيات باللغتين الإنجليزية والفرنسية، وهما اللغتان الرسميتان اللتان صيغت بهما الاتفاقيات.
