يتناول الكتاب دراسة فترة من أهم الفترات في تاريخ عمان في العصر الإسلامي، وهي الفترة التي بدأت بظهور الإسلام في عمان في عهد الرسول \"صلى الله عليه وسلم\"، وحتى سقوط الإمامة الإباضية الأولى سنة 134هـ/ 751م. وكان الهدف من هذه الدراسة عرض بالمناقشة والتحليل لعدد من القضايا والإشكالات لتاريخ عمان في تلك الحقبة، وهي في معظمها تتعلق باختلاف الروايات التي وصلت إلينا عن طريق المصادر المتنوعة حول زمن وقوع بعض الأحداث، وابطالها وأماكن حدوثها.
