يتناول هذا الكتاب ما للحبشة من الفضائل ويقص علينا نبأ سلفهم الصالح الذين هداهم الله الي الصعاب وما كان للنجاشي من الرأي السديد في حماية المسلمين إلي غير ذلك من تاريخ أثيوبيا الحبشة وجاء الكتاب في ثمانية أبواب عرضت لما جاء من أحاديث في نسبهم وحقهم ولغتهم وألوانهم وما جاء في مراسلة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إليهم وفي هدايه لهم كما ذكر تراجم للمهاجرين الذين ماتوا على أرضها وذكر من قدم إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم منهم.
