كتاب هام تناول مؤلفه تراجم طبقات الإعلام المالكية من القرن الثالث الهجري إلى القرن الرابع الهجري، وقد حوى عددا كبيرا من التراجم استنبطها من كتب اعلام سابقيه، وقد حصرها في طبقات تندرج تحتها فروع باسم بلدان الإعلام المترجم لهم حسب وفياتهم. ونجد في هذا القسم النبي والصحابة والتابعين ومالك ابن أنس ومعاصريه. ويصل تقسيم الطبقات إلى سبع وعشرين طبقة، مدة كل منها خمسة وأربعون عاما تقريبا. ولم يهمل المؤلف التوزيع الجغرافي. فهو يترجم بالتالي لفقهاء الحجاز، والعراق، ومصر، وإفريقيا والأندلس المشهورين.
