اهتمت الدراسة التي بين أيدينا بالخوض في أعماق المذهب الشافعي في اليمن من القرن الرابع حتى القرن السابع الهجري فـي تفرد موضوعي لم يطرق من قبل بتفصيل ودقة علمية، اعتمدت الدراسة على منهج البحـث التاريخي في كلياته وجزئياته ووفقـا لهذا المنهج فقد تضمنت الدراسة الآتي : أولا : الإمام الشافعي حياته وإنتاجه الفكري، ثانيا : العقيدة الشافعية وصلتها بالمذاهب والفرق المعاصرة لها في اليمن، ثالثا : انتشار المذهب الشافعي في اليمن، رابعا : دور الأيوبيين والرسوليين في نشر المذهب الشافعي.
