الكتاب يتناول تاريخ \"الدولة السعدية وأخبار ملوكها\" وهي أسرة من الأشراف الحسينيين تنتسب إلى الإمام القاسم بن محمد الملقب بالنفس الزكية، والتي حكمت المغرب الأقصى بعد نزوح أجدادهم من الحجاز إلى منطقة وادي نهر درعة جنوبي المغرب مطلع القرن الثامن الهجري-الرابع عشر الميلادي، وبدأوا في نشر دعوتهم عن طريق الطرق الصوفية وحاربوا حكام المغرب ثم قادوا حركة المقاومة ضد الاستعمار البرتغالي.
