يشمل الكتاب، وفق مؤلفه دائما، بعض تصورات ورؤى عبد الكبير الخطيبي الفكرية حول مجموعة من المواضيع والإشكاليات المعرفية والثقافية مثل رؤيته للتراث والقضية الفلسطينية. وباعتبار \"الذاكرة الموشومة\" أولى رواية يصدرها الخطيبي، فقد كان من البديهي أن يتضمنها هذا الكتاب، من خلال دراسة ما بعد الكولونيالية حول إشكالية الهوية وعلاقة الأنا بالآخر، دون إغفال تقديم قراءة من طرف المؤلف في رواية \"ثلاثية الرباط\"، التي أصدرها عبد الكبير الخطيبي سنة 1993، \"والتي تمثل انتقادا صريحا لبعض الآفات الاجتماعية مثل الرشوة، وفضحا لبعض السلوكيات السيئة للعمل السياسي\".
