هذا الكتاب به يحاول تعريف اللامرئي من حيث أنه إدراك ما لا يدرك ورؤية ما لا يرىو يريد بذلك الاعتقاد بوجود أشياء لا وجود لها وليس مجرد الانخداع بأشياء تماثلت للحواس بل تصورات اختلقها الذهن ليكون لها وجود في الواقع رغم انعدام وجودها وهذه خاصية الفكر الإنساني المتشبث بوجود بقية في الأشياء رغم زوالها ويستعرض المؤلف في الفصول الخمسة للكتاب أهم مظاهر اللامرئي التي تستبطن الفكر الإنساني ليبدأ مع اللامرئي كما نراه لينتقل إلى البورتريه السحري وثم الحديث عن الرغبة في الافصاح عن ما ينطق به وبعدها يقف مع الأشباح والأطياف ليختم متحدثا عن شعرية اللامرئي.
