يقسم فقيه كتابه إلى قسمين، يتناول في الأول القبائل الأصلية المرتبطة بالتراب المغربي، منذ فجر التاريخ، ومعنى ذلك أن المغرب لم يكن أرضا خلاء قبل وفود هجرات أقوام من الشمال والجنوب والشرق عليه، كما يناقش الكاتب الآراء المتعلقة بأصول السكان الأوائل ومواصفاتهم ودورهم في التاريخ ومساهمتهم في إعمار الأرض وبناء الحضارة الإنسانية، أما القسم الثاني فخصصه للقبائل العربية الوافدة من المشرق والتي دخلت بلاد المغرب عند الفتح وبعده، وكان لها الشرف في تبليغ رسالة الاسلام إلى هذا البلد، وترسيخ عقيدة التوحيد ونشر التعريب بين القبائل، مشيرا إلى أنه بفضل هذا الدين ذاب الجميع في بوتقة الإسلام وظهر من هذا الامتزاج شعب واحد معتز بمغربيته ووطنيته.
