تناول الكتاب موضوع الاستعمار والتعليم وبخت الرضا، مبينا أن تاريخ التعليم الحديث في السودان بدأ بالتركية السابقة حيث تم فتح بعض المدارس في السودان. ومجمل القول أن الكتاب نقد التعليم الاستعماري في السودان الحديث، أما عن المزاوجة بالتراث في التعليم فقد أشار المؤلف بوضوح إلى أن الاستعمار حاول إبعاد المستعمرين عن ثقافتهم، مستشهدا بما ذكره أدوارد سعيد الذي تحدث عن صورة الشرق لدى الغربيين الذين لديهم صورة مشوهة عن الشرق ما زالت مستمرة إلى الآن.
