كتاب طريف في عنوانه ومادته يقع في 80 صفحة جمعة محمد بن خلف ابن المزربان المحولي سنة 309 هـ الموافق لسنة 921م وجمع فيه كل ما جاء في فضل الكلاب على شرار الأخوان يقول ابن المزربان أنه تصنيفه لهذا الكتاب كان نزولا على اقتراح صديق له حيث طلب منه تأليف كتاب يظهر فساد أخلاق البشر وسوء علاقاتهم ببعضهم البعض فسعى لإعداد كتابه هذا والذي جمع فيه كل ما وقع تحت يديه من أشعار وحكايات خاضت بهذا الأمر.
