ينقسم الكتاب إلى ثلاثة فصول يوضح في الفصل الأول : مفهوم العالم الثالث لكي نبين دور التاريخ في ما لحق بشعوب العالم من جور بسبب هذه التسمية ومقدار ما يشوب فهم الناس لها من مغالطات وأخطاء وبالأخص فهم العالم الغربي لها. وفي الفصل الثاني : سوف نستعرض ما نعتقد بأنها الأسباب الجوهرية التي تضغط على سكان المناطق الواقعة في حزام ما أطلق عليه أسم العالم الثالث للبقاء خلف أسوار التسمية في محاولة منا لتشخيص العلة علميا علنا بعدها نستطيع إيجاد الحل أو معرفة الطريق المؤدية إلى الحل وفي الفصل الثالث : فهو لدعم وجهات النظر المتضمنة في الفصلين الأول والثاني إحصائيا.
