في هذا الكتاب يعرض العميد الركن شكري محمود نديم تفاصيل حرب أفريقيا الشمالية. فعرض في الباب الأول للموقف الدولي العالم قبيل الحرب العالمية الثانية واندلاعها تطور الأحداث كما عرض للموقف في مصر وأفريقيا الشمالية وقدم وصفا عاما لساحة الحرمات. وفي الباب الثاني استعرض المؤلف الموقف الحربي العالم، والموقف على الحدود المصرية الليبية وتقدم المارشال غرازياني والخطة البريطانية للهجوم المقابل كما يقدم وصفا لمعركة سيدي براني، وعملية احتلال برقة التي قام بها الجنرال ويغل ويعرض لأهم الدروس المستحصلة من تلك العمليات.
