يحتوي المؤلف على خمسة عشر فصلا ومعظم هذه الفصول مكونة من أجزاء نظرية وملحقات لتجارب الفحوص المختبرية، فالفصل الأول قد اختص بتعريف وشرح أنواع المواد الهندسية التي تدخل في البناء مع بيان خواصها وطرق فحصها. وتناول الفصل الثاني موضوع الطابوق فقد عرف أنواعه وطرق إنتاجه وخواصه واستعمالاته وطرق البناء وأخيرا فحوصات الطابوق. أما الفصل الثالث فقد تطرق إلى موضوع الصخور (الحجارة) من حيث أصلها وأنواعها وتجهيزها واستعمالاتها في البناء. وقد استعرض الفصل الرابع أغراض المواد الرابطة وأنواعها وطريقة استعمالها. وجاء الفصل الخامس ليعالج موضوع الخشب باعتباره مادة بنائية إذ وضع أصل الخشب كمادة بنائية والصفات العامة للخشب والعوامل المؤشرة في تحمل الخشب وعدد الأنواع المهمة من الخشب المستعمل في البناء وعيوب وطريقة حفظ الخشب وأخيرا الفحوصات المختبرية لمادة الخشب.
