Overview
يتناول الكتاب نشأت القصة العربية الحديثة وتطورتها خصوصا في مراحلها الأولى في ظلال القصة الغربية وتحت تأثيراتها المباشرة وغير المباشرة، والعراق شأنه شأن بقية الأقطار العربية الأخرى، قد وقع في أدبه القصصي تحت التأثيرات المباشرة من خلال الترجمة والأعمال الأجنبية والتاثيرات غير المباشرة من خلال الأعمال القصصية العربية الحديثة الوافدة من الأقطار التي سبقته في هذا المضمار وبالتحديد مصر وبلاد الشام. وقد سبق اللبنانيون والمصريون غيرهم من العرب في التعرف على أدب القصة وفي الكتابة فيه، ولذلك أسباب عدة كان من أهمها حركة الترجمة، والتي بدأت عن الفرنسية بعد حملة نابليون على مصر، لتنهض بعد ذلك بشكل أكثر فاعلية.
