هذا الكتاب هو في الأصل مجموعة محاضرات ألقيت على طلبة كلية الحقوق في جامعة عمان الأهلية في الفصل الصيفي من عام 1992 وقد رأيت أن الوقت قد حان لتكون هذه المحاضرات نواة لكتاب جامعي يتناول مصادر الالتزام أي مصادر الحق الشخصي وكما يطلق عليها في القانون المدني الأردني ويجب التنويه إلى أن شرح أحكام القانون المدني الأردني وخصوصا مصادر الحق الشخصي أمر ليس بالهين على الإطلاق فقد آثر المشرع الأردني أن يستند عند وضعه لنصوص القانون المدني الأردني إلى التراث الفقهي الإسلامي وراعى أحكام الفقه الإسلامي إلى حد كبير وخصوصا أن تطبيق أحكام مجلة الأحكام العدلية استمر في الأردن لسنين طويلة ومن المعروف أن أحكام هذه المجلة تقوم على الراجح من المذهب الحنفي.
