مساء يوم الأحد 25/5/2002 وبينما كان يتناول العشاء مع أسرته، اذ بجرس الباب يدق ليدخل ضابط شرطة يقوم باعتقاله، وعندما استفسر عن الذنب الذي اقترفه، أجابه : خمس دقائق وتعود !! .. نقل الرجل لباجرام ثم لمعتقل جوانتانامو بكوبا ليقضي هناك ستة وعشرين شهرا، وفي النهاية سلموه شهادة تفيد بأنه لا يمثل خطرا على القوات الأمريكية أو مصالحها في أفغانستان ، ثم أطلقوا سراحه في نفس المكان الذي اعتقل فيه.
