ما يجري في هذا العالم البالغ الصغر يشغل العلماء ويدفعهم إلى اكتشاف المزيد والمزيد من خباياها ؛ ومن هنا أخذت تظهر فروع جديدة في العلم حاملة معها مبادئها ونظرياتها الخاصة بها؛ وتعبر الطاقة الذرية، ويطلق عليها أيضا الطاقة النووية أحد فروع الذرة التي ينتج عنها طاقة بكميات كبيرة من خلال العمليات التي تؤثر في نواة الذرة، أو نوى الذرات الكثيفة، كما تختلف الطاقة الذرية عن الطاقة الناتجة بفعل الظواهر الكيميائية الأخرى كالتفاعلات الكيميائية المختلفة والتي تتم عن طريق استخدام الإلكترونات التي توجد في مدارات الذرة. وهذ الكتاب الذي نعيد إصداره، نظرا لقيمته العلمية، بعد مرور سنوات طويلة على صدور طبعته الأولى والذي يحوي بين طياته خلاصة التجارب العلمية التي قام بها علماء الذرة ليتوصلوا إلى إنتاج الطاقة من الذرة.
