نظرا للإهتمام الكبير بفنون وزيادة الصوت، وزيادة اهتمام الناس بالاستمتاع بالأجهزة الصوتية، فإن هذا الكتاب، يستمتع بالخواص الطبيعية للصوت وخواص الاستماع يسد حاجة حقيقية. وهذا الكتاب، الذي كتبه أحد مدرسى الفيزياء المرموقين، يتناول في الباب الأول النواحى الأساسية للصوت، وقياس الخواص الطبيعية للصوت، وأسس الصوتيات .. ويشمل الباب الثانى منه مناقشة المجموعة العضوية لميكانيكية السمع، والنظر السيكولوجى للنواحى الفيزيائية للصوت، كما تذكر في هذا الباب الآلآت الموسيقية الوترية الأحداثوات البشرية .. ويعود الباب الثالث إلى النواحى الفيزيائية البحتة، ويتناول بعض الظواهر مثل التداخل والرنين، كما يذكر فيه بالتفصيل موضوع في ألبومات الأغنية والآت النفخ.
