السلطة الرومانية لم يكن مرحب بها في فلسطين، لذلك برز دور كل من (الزيلوت) و(الأسينين)، بوصفهم حركة حثت اليهود على مقاومة الاحتلال الروماني، ومن ثم اندلعت ثورة في الربع الأخير من القرن الميلادي الأول، هددت بانقراض الديانة اليهودية، ثم قامت ثورة مرة أخرى، في بداية القرن الميلادي الثاني، عجلت بنهاية الحركة اليهودية المسيحية.
