يعالج هذا الكتاب أطروحة الدكتوراه التي تقدمت بها الباحثة إلى قسم العلوم السياسية بكلية الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية بجامعة القاهرة في نوفمبر 2017، ويدور موضوعها حول تحديد العوامل التي تجعل بعض الفاعلين السياسيين ينجحون في الاستفادة من التغير الحادث في هيكل الفرص السياسية في مراحل الحراك الثوري بينما لا ينجح البعض الآخر من الفاعلين في الاستفادة من هذا التغيير، وذلك بالاستعانة بمفهوم هيكل الفرص السياسية كأداة للتحليل، مع التطبيق على حالة جماعة الإخوان المسلمين وذراعها السياسي (حزب الحرية والعدالة) في مصر خلال الفترة من 2011 إلى 2017.
