يعرض حياة الشاعر احمد بن مشرف الذي ولد في أوائل القرن الثالث عشر الهجري ويدرس أصول ديوانه الذي طبع سبع مرات ويتتبع الأبيات التي سقطت منة ويذكر الاختلاف بين المطبوع والمخطوط من ديوانه كما يشير إلى موضوعات شعرة التي دافع فيها عن العقيدة الإسلامية والدعوة الإصلاحية . كما يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن مصادر أفكار الشاعر في شعرة التي استمدت من الكتاب والسنة ويعدد ما امتاز به شعرة من السهولة ووضوح المعاني ويختم الكتاب بعقد موازنة بين ابن مشرف والشاعر سليمان بن سحمان.
