يتناول كتاب (قصة الفن الحديث) والذي قام بتأليفه سلمان قطاية في حوالي (60) صفحة من القطع المتوسط موضوع (الفن الحديث) مستعرضا تاريخ المدارس الأوروبية الحديثة من منتصف القرف التاسع عشر، وتناول الكتاب المدرسة الانطباعية، وسيرة أعلامها، وعالج الكتاب المشاكل الجمالية التي أثارتها المفاهيم الأدبية والسياسية. ويعتبر هذا الكتاب من أوائل الكتب العربية التي تتناول التاريخ الفني الحديث.
