يعالج هذا المعجم لونا جديدا من ألوان التأليف المعجمي في العربية وهذا اللون دراسة ألفاظ وقع عليها تطور دلالي بعضها فصيح ويظنة الناس عاميا وبعضها الآخر عامي يعدة الدارسون فصيحا ولكل منهما وجه من الاستعمال صحيح فصيح والعامية التي ورد ذكرها فيه هي عاميات عربية، ومنها عامية أهل العراق. وهذا اللون من التأليف طريف مفيد، إذ لم نقرأ عملا يناظره في موضوعه وبعد، فهذا المعجم هو خطوة رائدة في طريق بناء المعجم اللغوي الجديد، (المعجم اللغوي التاريخي) الذي تفتقر إليه اللغة العربية.. ومادته اللغوية تكشف عن علاقة اللغة بالمؤثرات الخارجية، وهذا من أظهر سمات اللغة (المتطورة / الحية).. ومجموع مادته : طائفة من الألفاظ مختارة تطورت معانيها في الفصيح والعامي أيضا.
