يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن ريتشارد فاجنر المؤلف الموسيقي والكاتب المسرحي الألماني الذي عاش في الفترة ما بين عامي 1813-1883 ما بين ألمانيا وإيطاليا. بعد الاستماع إلى كتاب اللحن الثائر ستخرج بصورة بليغة لرجل اجتمعت فيه فضائل كثيرة ورذائل كثيرة ... ولكن من المؤكد أنك لن تشك للحظة بأنك أمام شخصية عبقرية من طراز فريد حولت من مجرى الموسيقى في القرن التاسع عشر، وما زال أثرها ملحوظا حتى يومنا هذا. في النهاية قد يحب المرء فاجنر أو يكرهه ولكنه لن يستطيع أن يتجاهله فهو حضور طاغ يملأ عقولنا ووجداننا بفكرة الثائر، وخياله الخصب، وصنعته المركبة-بل المعقدة-ومشاهده العاتية، وألحانه الدالة التي تظل تطارد خيال سامعها طويلا بعد أن تذوب موجات الصوت في عالم الصمت !!.
