إنها المرة الأولى في تاريخ الثقافة في الوطن العربي، يصدر كتاب بهذا العنوان يتجه للرأي العام، بمثل هذا الشمول، وفي ذات الوقت يعبر عن وجهة نظر تاريخية تعرضت للحجب المستمر في التاريخ الحديث والمعاصر من أجهزة ثقافية وأكاديمية كانت مدفوعة بموقف يختلط فيه الحماس للحضارة الغربية بنظرة استعلائية استعمارية هدفها فرض نظرية السيادة الأوروبية على العالم، وإذا كانت الصحوة السياسية لشعوب الحضارات القديمة قد كسرت جدار الأمن السياسي للهيمنة الأوروبية، فالوقت الآن ملائم لكسر جدار الطمأنينة الثقافية. وكتاب حضارة العراق صاحب هذه الريادة في الثقافة يسجل الإبداع الحضاري العراقي عبر زمن الوعي الإنساني، منذ بزوغ فجر الحضارة لأول مرة في تاريخ البشرية في بلاد وادي الرافدين.
