قد رأينا أن نضع بين يدي القارئ في أول كتاب من كتب هذه السلسلة خلاصة وافية لأهم الاتجاهات الجمالية في الفلسفة المعاصرة، وإذا كنا قد أطلقنا على هذا الكتاب اسم \"فلسفة الفن في الفكر المعاصر\"، فذلك لأننا قد لاحظنا أن الطابع الفلسفي قد غلب على معظم هذه الاتجاهات الجمالية، خصوصا وان طائفة غير قليلة من أصحاب هذه الاتجاهات لم يكونوا في الأصل سوى فلاسفة أرادوا ان يكملوا مذاهبهم بتطبيقها على الظاهرة الجمالية، وأملنا ان نتمكن في القريب العاجل من مواصلة هذه الدراسات بإصدار بحث آخر عن اهم \"المدارس المختلفة في علم الجمال\" ويقيننا أن القارئ العربي سيجد في هذه السلسلة الجديدة من الدراسات الفلسفية تكلمه ضرويه لثقافته.
