يعتبر الشاعر الكبير الأديب أحمد السقاف أحد عمالقة الشعر والأدب في الكويت إلى جانب كثير من أقرانه في هذا الميدان، وما كتبه في ميدان الشعر يفوق ما كتبه في مجال النثر، ونجد أن المؤلف أحمد بكري عصلة لهذا الكتاب عن الشاعر السقاف قد جعل له هذا العنوان لأنه قد وجد الشاعر بحسب تعبيره يقبض فعلا على «جمر الإبداع» بعد أن تعمق بدراسة نتاجه الشعري والأدبي، فعمل على ترتيب وتنضيد بعض عطاءات هذا الشاعر والأديب في كتاب جعله في مقدمة وأربعة فصول وخاتمة.
